A Year in the Making
The second release in the (Murmurations Through Space) capsule series titled 'The Cosmic Rhythm' was launched on October 5th, 2024 at Mane Specialist Bottleshop in Osborne Park. Since then, the series has evolved into a significant chapter in the story of Distrikt Whiskies. Spanning a full year, this second coincidental six-bottle release has captured key moments, creative milestones, and valuable opportunities for growth within the brand and our host market The final key instalment of this capsule is set to be released in early September 2025.
A Strong Start: Cask Strength Rye
The journey began with our Cask Strength Vacuum Distilled Rye, which served as the base for a cocktail titled Destination Departure. This cocktail progressed to the national finals of the Amaro Montenegro ‘Vero Bartender’ Competition, and the whiskey itself found a place on the back bars of select venues in Canberra, ACT.

The 51% rye expression also saw strong uptake in on-premise venues across WA, often paired with food menus—a promising result that has encouraged us to explore a possible ongoing core range inspired by this approach. We’ll share more on that in an upcoming post.
Cosmic Toast: A Standout Expression
One of the most distinctive releases in the series has been Cosmic Toast. This whiskey was matured in stout casks made from uncharred, rather 'toasted' Hungarian oak, seasoned with decadent Neighbourhood Brew Cosmic Stout—an experimental direction that originated from excess rye initially intended for American oak maturation. The result is a unique whiskey that has resonated strongly with customers. With a broad flavour profile and clear point of difference, it has become one of our most successful releases to date.
Galactic Malt Zero and the Closing Chapter
Galactic Malt Zero, matured in American oak, was released more recently. It includes both a Cask Strength Straight Rye (59.20%) and a more accessible release known as The Pilot—our attempt at setting a new standard for Straight Rye within the Australian market. The early response to both versions has been overwhelmingly positive, with descriptors such as 'decadent' from successive industry colleagues we are humbled.
The final release in the series, titled Triple Cask, is scheduled for launch on August 25th, 2025, with a strictly limited run of 100 bottles. The final ABV will be confirmed closer to the release date. Pre-orders are open and can be secured via the Distrikt website—simply purchase any other bottle and include a note to ensure your place is recorded.
